Thank for you visiting my website.  Like so many women, I wear many hats.  I am a mother to six amazing children who have taught me invaluable lessons about life.  I recently  became a grandmother (3/27/08) of a beautiful baby girl.  I am a midwife, having attended home births since October of 1992.  Over the years the women and the families I worked with taught me many valuable life lessons as well.  My mind and heart ex- panded, and my knowledge base increased as I served women in various different capacities.  I worked as a house manager in a shelter for battered women.  I taught childbirth classes and ran a monthly home birth support group.  I have worked extensively with women who have survived sexual abuse and domestic violence.  I learned that a being a midwife is not something that one simply goes to school to learn how to pass a certifying Board Exam.  Rather becoming a midwife is a process of evolution of heart, mind and spirit.  Becoming a midwife is a vocation of the soul that strives for the betterment and service of women and families.   It involves a willingness to bear witness to the joys and pains and tears of bringing a new soul into this beautiful world.   My prayer for women is that they gain the experience of finding their own path through womanhood; that they experience their own personal power after reaching into the depths of their own souls; that those women who choose motherhood have the experience of their powerful birthing bodies bringing a new soul into this world, and have the gift of holding their precious babies to suckle at their breasts.

My practice, Complete Woman Midwifery, has undergone its own evolution and growth.  What started as a small home birth practice grew into a holistic women’s center.  Women who came and had a great year of midwifery care for their home births were reluctant to go back to their former doctors for their regular gynecology exams.  To meet this demand, I began including holistic, women-centered well-woman care into my practice.

As a result of women refusing to have the traditional mammography and asking for alternative screenings for breast cancer, I embarked into  research to see what else was available.  I was surprised and excited to learn that Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging had been FDA-approved since 1982.  I soon found out that unbelievably, there were no centers in the NY and NJ area in which I lived and worked.  I decided to create the Complete Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging Center.   I am now a certified technologist offering this valuable service in the New York City and surrounding lower upstate NYS and New Jersey areas.

As these two practices evolved, I also began teaching Raw Food preparation classes, and keeping a small stock of my favorite natural products and supplements, helping women to make healthier lifestyle choices.  I am organizing a series of movie screenings pertinent to women’s health issues as well as birth.  My practice also offers nutritional and wellness counseling as well as far infrared sauna with oxygen aroma therapy.  My practice  has evolved into the Complete Wellness Center.

I have been a guest lecturer at Union College, in NJ, and Seattle Midwifery School, and am now a preceptor for the National College of Midwifery.

I have worked politically for midwives, and birthing women in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey.  I challenged the New Jersey midwifery law and the Board of Medical Examiners, and became the first non-nurse midwife to be licensed in New Jersey since 1920 or so.  I finished that degree working until 2  am every morning, while nursing my newborn, after I had split with my husband.   I then got licensed in NY which allowed me to expand my practice.   I am now passionately involved in educating women to become more knowledgeable and aware of their breast health.

I love the work that I do involving birth and empowering women.  Women who feel strong and secure about themselves as women, are better able to take care of their newborns and to be able to advocate on their own and their families behalf.  This creates stronger family units, who hopefully can continue this ripple effect throughout their own neighborhoods and worlds.  I truly believe we can change the world, one birth at a time.

I  believe in supporting women to find their way to health, to be active participants in their healthcare, in helping women to trust their bodies, whether they are finding their way through pregnancy and birth, or supporting them as they heal their bodies of breast cancer.  I firmly believe in our ability to nourish and heal ourselves, and believe that as women we are a formidable force to be contended with when we learn to open our hearts, our minds, and our mouths, to speak up for what we believe in.

I am available to speak for your group or organization.  I look forward to the opportunity and honor to be part of your healthcare team.
